It looks like the Lord can indeed bless us more. This week has been challenging and fun and full of blessings. First, my new companion..... Hermana Contreras!!!!!
(Sorry Elder Stewart and his comp are photo bombing, that's how Hna Egbert put the picture).
She is an amazing missionary. She's been companions with 2 of my other companions and was my Sister Training Leader for a cambio so I'd heard a lot about her and I had always admired her. Working with her is a ball, it's like working with a combination of Snow White and Mulan. A little dreamy and she sings everywhere she goes, but more than capable to get the job done and save all of China if necessary. She's spent all her life in cities (she was in Pachuca and Tecamac for the first 14 months of her mission), she she's had a little bit of culture shock here in the pueblo. She still gets super excited every time we see a cow. She is from Coahuila Mexico. You´d think it'd be the white girl having the culture shock but I guess I'm a little more used to uncivilized life... Some stories from this week:
We were knocking on the door of a street contact from a week ago when out of the house next door came a lady we had just contacted in the combi. She was a little suprised to see us but invited us in. She was not smiling. She told us, ¨let´s get to the point, what do you want?¨ Um.... we teach about Christ. She disappeared into the other room and came out carrying a candle. ¨Do you know what this is?¨ (Um... a candle?) She informed us of what is was called and told us we should always light one when we prayed then she and her daughter knelt (we did too) and recited a prayer then she prayed and sang. There was a very hostile spirit but we asked if we could return the favor and sang Nearer My God to Thee and prayed and shared a short mesage about the love of God for all of his children and a little about the restoration. We were all friends by the end. Hostility: 1 Contention: 0
Another story... we were contacting in the combi when we met some people on their way to see a deacon ordained to be a priest in the Catholic Church. They informed us that the Bishop from Tula was going to be there. Wow. I asked them if they knew the Bishop from Mixquiahula. They look confused... I decided it was better not to tell them that we had just eaten dinner with his wife in Xochitlan. The Priesthood: 1 Celibacy: 0
My companion is amazing at taking the initiative on street contacts, she talks to EVERYONE. We talked to a Señora then later taught her, only to find out that she reads the Book of Mormon and her Gospel Principles book everyday. Her son is a member in another state. Missionary work in the Family: 1 Following the Spirit in contacting: 1
There are so many amazing things that happend this week! We found 15 new investigators, including many people who are embracing the Gospel with full heart. The church is true!!!!!!!!!!! The Priesthood of God has been restored!!!
