What a wonderful week! This week started off a little rough this, I started to feel like I was losing everything I had worked so hard to gain. I began to doubt and lose my focus a little but Our Father in Heaven knows exactly what we need, when we need it.
We were walking back to the apartment one morning after sending some reports to the Sister Leader Training Leaders (don´t ask me about the title) and I was trying really hard to get back in the moment, in the service. All of the sudden we heard ¨Güerita! Ven!¨ (Come!). It was a Señor who has a shoe repair place that always says Hi to us. We stopped to talk to him and he thanked us profoundly, ¨Thank you, thank you for visiting my home. Thank you for doing a prayer for us. Las bendiciones llgaron! The blessing came!¨
I quickly realized who it was! Ealier in the week Hna Gonzalez and I had gone to a home and done a Harvesting Blessing. The Sister told us that her husband has a shoe-repair shop in Centro. In a Harvesting Blessing we invoke our authority as representatives of Christ and ask our Heavenly Father to bless the home. The elders, clearly, use the Priesthood. I remembered the prayer we had made, we had pleaded for peace and unity in the home. we had pleaded for their son who is struggling to recover from addictions. I don´t know exactly what blessings they were able to witness but it was exactly what I needed in that moment. I needed to know that the work I was doing was making a difference.
As we arrived at our apartment my companion (the amazing Hna Palacios) shared with me the story of a family who was being baptised that very day in her old area. We felt the Spirit strongly testifying of the worth of the souls of all the people we teach. Later that day we visited a family that I have come to love dearly. The twins Magy and Margot have been a great source of help here in Progreso. Their mom, Hna Rayito was involved in an accident about a month ago (she got hit by a bike of all things) and injured her spine. Margot opened her mission call the day of her Mother´s operation and leaves tomorrow for the MTC. She´ll be serving in Oaxaca. Nothing can stop her from answering her call to serve. We had a beautiful lesson with them and as we left my companion and I were walking on clouds, rejoicing in the wonderful blessing of serving and meeting and loving such wonderful people!
From there we went to Mixquiahuala for the baptismal service of Flor, a young woman the elders had taught (and the girlfriend of our ward mission leader....). She was absolutely RADIENT. Her testimony is amazing. The Spirit was incredibly strong. Our dear wonderful investigator Sonia who came to see the baptism was exuberant about the Spirit she felt! She couldn´t stop from smiling and telling us how happy she was! We are super super excited for her baptism this Saturday!!! I think that night I felt the Spirit stronger than I´ve ever felt it before. It´s just a happiness that doesn´t fit inside my heart that explodes out! I love this Gospel!
I love you all!!!
Love,
Hermana DeFranco
P.S. Note about the title, no one told us about the time change. We went to pick up our investigators for church an hour early..... awkward..
