Today Brother and Sister Sanchez enter the MTC and become Elder and Sister Sanchez. Why is this important? Two reasons. First, Elder Sanchez, was our ward mission leader so we are sad to lose him (our new ward mission leader is a young man who got home from his mission in December. He served in the Provo, Utah Mission which I find hilarious. Anyway, on with the story). Second, because they´ll be serving in the Mission Mexico Pachuca! They´ll be the new office couple, still living in their house, but working in the mission offices :D
SO I´ve been trying out new way to improve my teaching skills. Ok, so we still aren´t using facebook or tablets BUT we´ve been using the Mormon Messages a lot, and they are a great way to teach. Also for the first time, we taught a lesson over skype. It was a little weird at first but it ended up being a very spiritual lesson. Gloria is in Toluca, Estado de Mexico right now so we can´t visit her, but we didn´t want her to lose her progress so, SKYPE!
Gloria is doing really well. She´s listened to the missionaries before, but never progressed. But the situacion and the timing is right and she´s made the decision. The missionaries in Toluca (different mission) almost derailed everything by making her feel very pressured but she´s stayed strong. It´s not been easy but she says she feels ¨raramente feliz¨ (¨weirdly happy¨) with her choice. :)
Carlos is progressing well also. He´s on vacations too and it looks like we wont be able to communicate by skype for now, so it´s back to old fashioned text messages. Last week, however, he was still here and we had some great lessons. He even went to institute and learned about foreordination from Elder Mendoza, a member of the Seventy. It really is amazing to see how the Lord prepares his children to recieve the Gospel. Sometimes he works in very mysterious ways.... Carlos told us the first time we taught him that there were things in his life that were not really so great... like partying. Last weekend he went out with his friends in his pueblo and drank and they ended up in a huge fight and he got injured (nothing serious). But that expierence, combined with what he is learning (I hope), helped him make the deccision to stop drinking cold turkey. Our word of wisdom lesson went very well this week :) He says he´s going to start coming back to Pachuca Sunday mornings in order to be able to come to church!
I love you all! Remember, everday choices determine eternity!
Love,
Hermana DeFranco
