Hello!
Where to start...
Hno Oscar was baptised this week! It was super special, the Spirit was very strong. His wife and son and daughter were baptised a while ago and he was the lone hold out of the family. Over the course of the last few months he opened up more and more and eventually made the decision that he wanted an eternal family and was going to do everything he needed to do in order to reach that goal. I love their family so much!
Eli moment.... We had a lesson on Thursday with him. He had read the first 4 chapters of 1 Nephi as promised and spent the first 15 minutes of the lesson explaining to us everything he learned. It was really fun to expericence the Book of Mormon through new eyes! He was pretty suprised by the fact that Nephi killed Laban... It was a interesting lesson (in many senses of the word). He´s still not sure if the Book of Mormon is true though. He feels peace and understanding and all that, but doesn´t view that as an answer. He couldn´t go to church yesterday though, so unmark your calendars for April 19th. We stopped by his house yesterday though and talked about the 10 Commandments. He´s going to keep reading and praying, only good can come of that!
Small note about the food here... first of all, I love it. I love all food of course... Anyway, I was told we would eat a lot of rice and beans. No. We do eat rice frequently and beans occasionaly, but mostly tortillas. Always tortillas. Hna Brioso tells people they don´t eat tortillas in the Dominican Republic and the members are dumbfounded. ¨Then... how do you eat?¨ Also, we eat a lot of nopales. We eat nopales at least 5 times a week. I love them =D
Life is good. The church is true. And General Conference is next week!!!!!!
Love to all,
Hna DeFranco
