We had a zone activity and my zone leaders have been promoted to my favorite persons list because we had an Easter Egg Hunt in the chapel (the theme was finding people to teach, of course). We found the Golden Investigator egg- sitting waiting for us in the baptism font 😊
Part of my letter to President:
So if you take a look at our goals and our logros for this past week, you'll see an obvious lack of faith on my part. I wasn't sure we would be able to find many new investigators, but find them we did. It's also been hard to drag people to church, but they came! They came just the same! Some interesting finding expierences of the week: we were walking up the street when suddenly this woman walks towards us and asks "can I take a picture with you?" We thought she meant she wanted us to take a picture of her, but no, she wanted a selfie with the two of us. Why? I have no idea, besides that we're a white girl and a black girl in Mexico... She isn't an investigator yet, but we have an appoinment to come visit her. Does it count as iniciativa propia if it's her iniciativa? 😊
Another time we were riding in the combi, it was a pretty long ride (about 25 minutes) and we were in a lively conversation with the two other passengers. When we asked one of them for his address he told us he would take us to his house right then, and since we were early to our next appointment, we accepted. (After we got off and started walking with him off in the middle of nowhere I realized that this was the exactly the kind of thing that Stranger Danger tells you not to do... oh well). We used the Harvesting of Blessings and it was a good expierence.
I feel like I'm finally starting to get on my feet. Adapting to Missionary Life says it takes about 6 weeks to adjust to a new location. Actopan isn't a new location, but almost 6 weeks ago I did get a whole set of new responsibilities and I feel like I'm finally starting to get going. We haven't had many (any) baptisms in April (yet, I have faith...) but with a lot of faith and hard work, we will have a beautiful and wet May 😄 The hardest part is getting people to understand how important it is to keep commitments. You can't say you want to change and you want to know more if you don't DO YOUR PART!!
I love you all! Stay strong in the faith!
Love,
Hermana DeFranco
